A Word To The Wise (or is it from the wise?)

In the years that I have been doing remodeling I have learned a lot.  If you or anyone you know is thinking of remodeling, read or have them read this post before going through with the remodel.
You get what you pay for!
Remember this, if you are looking to do remodeling in your home and you are looking for the cheapest price possible, DON'T.
Price shopping will get you two things.
One- a sub-par contractor; what do you think they do to lower the price? They cut corners and use "cheap" labor (usually un-documented workers).  In past experience the contractor who does this gives you a price up front and then when the money runs out they either ask you for more money or they pull off and leave you high and dry.
Two- Not always but usually the contractor who does it for less, gets his final payment and that is the last thing you'll hear from him.  What happens when your brand new bathroom or kitchen starts having issues?  Do you think you will be able to get him to come out and take care of the problem? NO!  He knows that he cut corners and do you think that if he didn't take the time to do it right the first time that he will want to come back and do it again at his cost? Good luck on that one.

At  Pearson Remodeling, we never settle for anything but the best.  We take the time to do it right the first time, and on the off chance that something starts having issues, we will be happy to take care of anything.  We don't give estimates, we give promises.  When we give you a price, that is the price.  Even when there are unforeseen issues.  We have the experience to know what to look for in the pricing process so there usually aren't unforeseen issues and when there are, we take the burden, not you.
Our prices may not, in fact they will not, be the cheapest but trust me, the price will be well worth it in the end.  The high caliber of quality of workmanship and materials will more than pay off in the end.
Be Aware of the, "Cover it up bathroom"!
You have heard of it and because I don't want to get sued I wont be using any names. Cover it up for less!  In a very recent experience we bid on a job that the homeowners received an estimate from one of these companies.  To make a long story short, our price came in about 40 percent less.  Our price included everything and the other one only covered certain things. Other things would have had to be taken care of by the homeowner.  Think about it, if you remodel your bathroom, do you want to have someone come in in one or two days and cover everything up?  No way!  Not in my house anyways.  When we do a full bathroom remodel, we come in and gut it and start from new.  Wouldn't you feel better knowing that the disgusting bathtub that you wanted to get rid of is at the landfill and not underneath a shell in your new(ish) bathroom?

Now I know that there are a lot of good contractors out there, But there are also a lot of bad ones.  When you are deciding on a contractor do your homework.  Ask for references, look at photos of past work.  If you don't feel right about someone, trust your instincts, run!  The purpose of this post is not to scare you, just to inform you.  Remember get it done right the first time, and most important,  You get what you pay for.
